Trending Tunes: Salman Khan’s Selfish and Kareena Kapoor’s Tareefan are a hit this week

We are here with yet another segment of Trending Tunes. Along with a new song, we have a brand new lyricist in the industry – Salman Khan. He has penned the words for a song in his film Race 3, which is slated to release on June 15. So, let us begin. Here are our top 5 songs of the week. And as our regular request goes, please turn up the volume and let go off your worries for a few minutes.

Selfish – Race 3

So, Salman has turned lyricist with this romantic track. He teaches us to take time off from the mundane life and think about yourself. A beautiful thought told so well through a song. The number has been crooned by Atif Aslam and Iulia Vantur which makes it even more beautiful. Check out the most popular song of the week!

Tareefan – Veere Di Wedding

The song is on top of pretty much all the music charts. Crooned by Badshah and composed by Qaran, this club number is very peppy and fills you with energy, right away.

Chavanprash – Bhavesh Joshi Superhero

Arjun Kapoor as item boy! We did not see that coming. The lyrics of this song are as wacky as the choreography. Also, get ready to fall in love with Arjun all over again. He does full justice to the quirky vibe of the song. While this song might not become an obvious chartbuster, we’re are damn sure that it will garner a cult following.

Bhangra Ta Sajda – Veere Di Wedding

Next up is the most vibrant song. Bhangra Ta Sajda is a lovely twist on the popular wedding song. The new age lyrics will speak to the millennial audience. And it is Neha Kakkar, guys! Just for that we can listen to this one on loop.

Ae Watan – Raazi

We have earlier praised this song, in other segments of Trending Tunes, but after watching the movie, Raazi, we are impressed all over again. The patriotic number holds a more valuable position altogether after we have seen it in context of the film. Arijit Singh gives a voice to Gulzar’s lyrics and it is magical. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy need to come out more often. Their last memorable album was Dil Dhadakne Do.

Suhana Khan’s birthday portrait, Deepika Padukone’s meme – these pictures went VIRAL this week

We are back with another segment of the viral pictures of the week. Quite a few good entries this time. Two birthday wishes and two throwback pictures were the most popular this time. We loved how Deepika Padukone added a personal touch to her Instagram finally and shared a joke with her sister. We think she should stick to this format. Suhana Khan and Karan Johar celebrated their birthdays this week. So, here you go…

Suhana Khan

The star kid who’s known for being extremely stylish and immensely confident is the next big thing Bollywood has to witness and we are eagerly waiting for it. Mommy Gauri Khan took to her Instagram account to share a rather stunning picture of her younger daughter who turned a year older on May 22.

Deepika Padukone’s meme loving sister

What are younger siblings for? For starters, to embarrass the older sibling publicly for a sadist pleasure. Deepika’s sister Anisha is fulfilling the duties of being the younger sibling as her latest Instagram post reveals. The actress shared a meme, which she obviously loved, to tell the world how her sister takes digs at her. “after a hard day at work, this is what my little sister sends me!!! love you AP!❤️ @anishapadukone.” [sic] the caption read, on the hilarious picture. It is hard to describe this meme, so why don’t you have a look! The picture says it all. Anisha commented on the post, “True story! Don’t be fooled by all the poise and grace” [sic] (ALSO READ: Look how Deepika Padukone is taking revenge from her sister for bullying her in public!)

preity throwback

Reminiscing about friendship, Preity Zinta took to her Twitter account to share a throwback picture, for old times sake. The picture features Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Rampal, Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji and Priyanka Chopra. Given that the picture is in black-and-white, the nostalgia factor is amped up further. From the hashtags that Preity has used, it is clear that the picture is from the time when they were on the Temptation Tour.

Suhana’s throwback pic with her girl gang

navya-suhana

On the day of her birthday, we came across few unseen childhood pictures of Suhana enjoying a family holiday with her besties Ananya Pandey and Shanaya Kapoor. The cute little picture of Ms Khan posing with her besties redefines the word ‘adorable’ for us. And hey, is that Navya Naveli Nanda in the picture with these girls?

Three weeks ago, on his mother Nargis Dutt’s death anniversary, Sanjay had shared a picture with her and had written, “All that I am is because of you. I miss you!”

Veere Di Wedding song Aa Jao Na: Kareena Kapoor Khan’s emotional track shows that friendships are not easy – watch video

Another refreshing melody from the Veere Di Wedding album has been released. This song titled, Aa Jao Na, has a melancholic vibe to it. Though it is very different from the other sad songs Bollywood has to offer. This one is upbeat and talks about hope more prominently than sadness and despair. The music video begins with Kareena Kapoor Khan’s character – the bride in the movie – telling Sumeet Vyas’ character that she won’t be able to live up to his expectations. Then we are thrown into a series of happy and emotional scenes.

Talking about the music, the vocals have been credited to Arijit Singh and Shashwat Sachdev. The latter has also composed the song. This might just be the best song from the entire album. I like what Raj Shekhar has done with the lyrics, the words go with the music like a leaf on a stream of water. The music video is primarily a montage of scenes from the film, many of which we have seen in the previous footage of the film. But near the end, Aa Jao Na makes a big revelation. What we are shown seems like the strongest scene in the film and a turning point. We see that police and a lawyer escort the four leading ladies, they step inside a housing compound and stare at something. They have a mix of optimism and gloom in their eyes. We are not shown what the ladies are looking at but feel that this might be the turning point of the film.

Backed by Ekta Kapoor, Veere Di Wedding will release on June 1. Interestingly the film will clash at the box office with Sonam ‘s brother Harshvardhan Kapoor’s second film, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero.

Bucket List movie review: Critics are bowled over by Madhuri Dixit’s effortless performance

Madhuri Dixit ticked one thing off of her bucket list when she signed up to star in her first Marathi film. Aptly titled Bucket List, the movie opened in theatres today. The film is backed by Dharma Productions and head-honcho Karan Johar has a very good feeling about it. Bucket List has been directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar and narrates the story of a woman who goes on a journey of self-discovery through the bucket list of heart’s donor. The first reactions of the movie are out and critics have given polarising views.

Times of India praised Madhuri’s performance and wrote, “Madhuri owns the film and sails through it with flying colours. She gets the body language, accent and minute details of her character right and presents them perfectly to deliver a convincing performance. ” (ALSO READ: Madhuri Dixit’s Kalank co-stars Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan come out to support her Marathi debut Bucket List)

Showsha.com thought that Bucket List could have been much more than it was, and wrote, “The memorable lead role of Bucket List allows Madhuri to look as glamorous in a leather jacket while riding a Harley Davidson as in a simple Maharashtrian sari. It lets her exploit her impeccable comic timing in a hilarious drunken scene (yes, the one with Ranbir Kapoor) just like it allows her to assert her desires in a powerful confrontational scene with a convincingly clueless Raghavan. But what it bars her from accomplishing is proving her worth as an actor, just because she needs to pay her dues as a performer.”

Times Now commented on the reunion of sisters from Hum Aapke Hain Koun and wrote, “This film also saw Hum Aapke Hain Koun co-stars Madhuri and Renuka Shahane unite on-screen after 23 years, and they still created magic on reel.” They concluded their review by saying, “On the whole, Bucket List will be liked by all who prefer simple stories of ordinary people. Directed by Tejas Vijay Deoskar, the film is a light watch, which will make you smile as you leave the theatres.”

Scroll.in wrote in their review, “The 130-minute movie works best when it stays light and frothy. Madhura’s cluelessness about the way in which the world works is conveniently deployed, and the low level of difficulty posed by Sai’s bucket list are barely inspiring, even though they produce many moments of light comedy.”

Mumbai Mirror, in a 2.5 star review wrote, “Ticking off her own list-of-sorts, Madhuri Dixit long-overdue debut in Marathi cinema is a comfort watch even if a tad predictable and sappy. The actress retains her radiant smile that lit up her 90s blockbusters and carves her Madhura as a vulnerable yet determined, conservative yet adventurous and free-spirited yet rooted individual.”

Zee5 original Zero KMS motion poster: Naseeruddin Shah’s web series talks about human trafficking – watch video

And here is another seemingly marvellous web series by Zee5. The first motion poster of Zero KMS is out and it paints a grim picture. The web series is based on the concerning issue of human trafficking. Set in Goa, it stars Naseeruddin Shah, which is his first web series with Tanmay Dhanania, Satyadeep Mishra, Vaibhavi Upadhyay and Rupali Bhosale in lead roles. Interestingly, the poster’s release coincides with International Missing children’s day.

Zero KMS’ motion poster starts with a montage of clippings emphasising on hard-hitting issues of flesh trade, trafficking, and then morphs into a collage of the pictures of characters. An intriguing poster which instantly draws interest. The poster emphasises on “Justice is a Long Road” which hints that the story will trace the journey towards justice. Sonam Kapoor got married to Anand Ahuja in a traditional Sikh ceremony on May 8. Their social media posts during the wedding ceremonies used the hashtag #EverydayPhenomenal. The hashtag went viral and fans started using it right away to describe them. Many even started using the hashtag in their personal posts. Anand, while sharing a picture of himself with Sonam, wrote, ‘Everyday Phenomenal’ is inspired by a poem by Emily Dickinson. The meaning & notion behind #everydayphenomenal is best described by this poem, one of my favourites, below: “Who has not found the heaven below, Will fail of it above. God’s residence is next to mine, His furniture is love.”#EmilyDickinson (sic)” The entrepreneur further added, “#EverydayPhenomenal reminds @sonamkapoor of the importance of appreciation, positivity, and gratitude…that happiness is not something you get, it’s something you are.” Fans would have never guessed that a beautiful poem is the idea behind the quirky hashtag!
