Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2: Ekta Kapoor is taking tips from Krystle, Ankita, Urvashi to create a ‘mean’ Komolika, but Hina Khan is missing!

Ekta Kapoor is all set to make us nostalgic with Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2. While Erica Fernades got confirmed to play Prerna a few weeks after the announcement, we knew Parth Samthaan will play Anurag only after some leaked pictures from the second promo shoot went viral. The fan base of Parth was divided over this, however, after the unofficial confirmation of sorts, fans can’t wait to see him on small screen as Anurag. Among the iconic roles, the one that will act as a catalyst is that of Komolika. And after a lot of speculations, Hina Khan was finalised for this character. Although, neither Hina nor Ekta confirmed this. Their ‘likes’ and ‘retweets’ of stories suggest that Hina is the one. Moreover, we brought you the exclusive news that Hina will be making a statement as Komolika with her range of danglers. Well, Ekta is not missing a chance to raise our excitement for the show. Recently, she shared a picture with her girl gang and wrote how she is planning her ‘mean’ modern Komolika. But what caught our attention is that Hina is missing from the picture.

The TV czarina knows well how to keep the audience at the edge of the seat. While we spot Krystle Dsouza, Ankita Bhargava and Urvashi Dholakia in this frame worthy picture, we surely miss Hina. She wrote, “Taking tips from the gang on creating the new age mean girl! #komolika #fromtheformertothelatter” [sic] The last hashtag has made us more inquisitive. The team has already started shooting the Mumbai portions last week at Killick Nixon studio.”

“lt’s Not A Sin To Have A Star Father” – Tiger Shroff’s Mother Ayesha Shroff Tells Ekta Kapoor

In the last few years, several star kids have made their grand Bollywood debuts under various big banners. While many of them have found their foothold in Hindi cinema, some are still struggling to make it big. Around the same time, a bunch of industry outsiders also entered the movies and left everyone in awe with their impressive performances respectively. Being the torch-bearer of the non-filmy ones who’ve managed to succeed in Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut once spoke about nepotism and triggered a chain of conversations. It is now one of the most sensitive topics amongst our B-town celebs.

Recently, Ekta Kapoor posted the first look of her upcoming production – Laila Majnu and wrote about the non-filmy newcomers who feature in the film. Here’s what she posted:

She referred to the duo as ‘unknown talents who have no film legacy or star fathers or godfathers’. And this didn’t go down too well with Jackie Shroff‘s wife and Tiger Shroff‘s mom. She wrote, “It’s not a sin to have a star-father.” Ekta immediately responded. Here’s how their interaction panned out:

Are you excited about Laila Majnu?

Ekta Kapoor argues with Tiger Shroff’s mom Ayesha over nepotism and we don’t know if we should pick sides

While you were busy gushing at Taimur and Inaaya‘s latest pictures from their playdate, the nepotism debate (yes, we get the flashbacks too), we are afraid, has sprung up again. Yes, the big ‘N’ that gave stars sleepless nights and us, too many an opinions, is back in the news again and if you’re thinking it’s Kangana Ranaut again, you couldn’t be more wrong. Honestly, it’s surprising where it’s coming from and we will let you be the judge if it’s anything more than that really. It all began when the head-honcho of Balaji Telefilms, Ekta Kapoor took to Instagram and posted a peak into her next venture Laila Majnu which is being co-produced and directed by Imtiaz Ali. But the seemingly harmless post has created a furore on Instagram. Why? Because Ekta’s caption that mentions the fact that her actors do not have any film legacy or lineage has not gone down very well with Tiger Shroff’s mom Ayesha Shroff. In fact, she didn’t keep it to herself and replied saying, it’s “no sin to have a star father.” And what followed was a war of words.

ekta ayesha

Although, we find the entire verbal tiff a little ironic since both come from film families and in that light, the argument seems misplaced but what can you do? It is what it is, and it’s a classic case of Insta-worthy spat that we couldn’t help but share.

Jabariya Jodi: Sidharth Malhotra & Parineeti Chopra Reunite For Ekta Kapoor’s Next

After Sidharth Malhotra recently confirmed that he is working on a project with Parineeti Chopra under Ekta Kapoor’s banner, sources has now further revealed details on the project. As informed by Sidharth earlier, the film will be based in Lucknow and is a love story based on the concept of groom kidnapping.

The film which was tentatively called Shotgun Shaadi has been finally titled Jabariya Jodi. A source close to leading daily DNA shared, “As it’s based on pakadwa vivaah, the makers felt that this was an apt name. In Bhojpuri, jabariya means zabardasti, so the title refers to a couple who is forced to get married. The two actors have also shot for the posters before leaving for Lucknow, so they should be out soon.”

It is also learnt that it was Sidharth who had suggested the title to the makers. “He came across this word during the readings and told the team about it. They liked it instantly,” the informer added. Moreover, the actor also played an instrumental role in ensuring that Ekta’s production house backed the movie. “Balaji will always be special because till date, my biggest film (Ek Villain, 2014) is with Ekta. That’s why the thought of calling her up about this script earlier this year was obvious. She’s good at presenting and marketing a film. We have had great energies which have worked for us in Ek Villain and we are going to amplify it further with this movie,” Sidharth told DNA.

My take on nepotism is that I don’t do it: Ekta Kapoor

Producer Ekta Kapoor today said she believes in giving a chance to someone who is deserving rather than getting influenced by a person’s background and connections while casting for her movies and TV shows. Ekta, who is promoting her home production “Laila Majnu”, featuring newcomers Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri, said she decides her cast after watching the audition tape.

“My take on nepotism is that I don’t do it. I don’t agree that it is only film industry’s problem because there is a whole world around it…” she said when asked about her take on nepotism at the trailer launch of “Laila Majnu”. For her, newcomers are not strugglers but “untapped talent”. (Also Read: Laila Majnu trailer: Imtiaz Ali and Ekta Kapoor’s spin on the age old love story will stir up the romantic in you; watch video)

“When I see an audition we only notice how good or bad they are, if there is vulnerability and if they fit the role. To the young talent out there, ‘Do not stalk me or follow me. Just send me your audition tape. Your legacy and background will not matter and don’t make your friends or uncle, politician aunty or family friends call me, it will be a dampener,” she added. The producer, however, admitted that launching a fresh face can be challenging.

“I do get calls from politicians, bureaucrats, actors and friends and my mother tells me if we don’t cast that person we will have to bear the brunt. I see the audition tape and cast if I think they fit the bill. It is a financial stress at the end of the day but it is less stressful because at least, I am honest to my job.”

When director-producer Imtiaz Ali approached Ekta with the idea of making “Laila Majnu”, the producer said she was in a financial trouble but she still decided to back the project because it is a great story.

The film is set to release on September 7.
