Avengers: Infinity War beats Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 2 and Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat

Avengers: Infinity War has done something incredible at the box office. Something that can be the case study of what the Indian market demands. The movie has beaten two of the biggest Bollywood releases – Padmaavat and Baaghi 2. After beating their opening records, AIW has managed to race ahead in terms of second-day box office collections as well by collecting Rs 61.8 crore (Rs 30.3 crore on Friday and Rs 31.5 crore on Saturday).

Padmaavat featured an ensemble of Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, with Aditi Rai Hyadari and Jim Sarbh in key roles. The movie garnered Rs 56 crore on day 2 in India. Avengers: Infinity War has been 10 years in the making. The story of the film is a culmination of about 17 films (excluding Ant-Man because that fellow didn’t show up this time). Looking back at the decade-long journey producer Kevin Feige has said in an interview, “In terms of [if] we could sit down and watch any movie we’ve made together and I’ll cringe at certain things and I’ll go, oh my God, oh I can’t believe we did that, I wish we had done this instead of that instead.  That’s the minutiae level.  And we…I don’t envision us doing special editions to change any of those things or anything like that.  But that’s just the nature of working on something for so long and then at a certain point you just have to send it out into the world.  In terms of big picture and looking at this Infinity War poster and all these cast members and all their costumes and all their looks and all their storylines that have brought us to this point, and I’m unbelievably proud of all of them. “(ALSO READ: 11 Avengers: Infinity War spoilers without context that will leave you scratching your head)

Now that she is going to be an elder sister, Misha is imparting some knowledge with a profound message on her T-shirt – view HQ pics

A few days ago, we had shared pictures of Mira carrying Misha’s artwork in her hands as she went to fetch her from the playschool. And today, we have again spotted the mother-daughter duo just outside the school. Despite the scorching summer sun, Misha attended her school and like everyday, her mommy was present to take her home. However, what caught our fancy today was Misha’s T-shirt. (Also read: Shahid Kapoor reveals the interesting story behind Misha announcing Mira Rajput’s second pregnancy)

Misha, who will turn two in a few months, is growing up to be such a doll. Dressed in black capris and a striped pink T-shirt, she looked cute as a button. However, she seems to be making a statement already. You see, written on her tee, are the words, ‘Always be yourself.’ Now those are some heavy words for an almost two-year old. But as they say, they grow up too fast! Misha’s hair, as usual, was gathered in a ponytail, with some cute clips and a matching pom pom rubber band. Adding to the cuteness was the fact that she wore black ballerinas with it. Such a cutie! Mira, on the other hand, looked completely summer ready in white pants and matching shirt. Shahid Kapoor’s girls looked completely ready to beat the heat in their outfits. Check out the pictures right here…

As though addressing the paparazzi, Mira had earlier said in an interview, “I wasn’t comfortable in the beginning, but I have grown used to it. I am learning to deal with it. Practice makes perfect. I have got a lot of love and support from Shanatics, and I applaud them.”

Misha was born on August 26, 2016. In just a four months the adorable daughter of Mira and Shahid will be celebrating her second birthday.

Avengers: Infinity War smashes the opening day collections of Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat

One of the biggest release this year was Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed Padmaavat. The epic movie starred Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. The movie had unimaginable hype around it thanks to its year-long brush with controversy. The movie’s opening day collection was Rs 24 crore. Well, the update is that Avengers: Infinity War has beaten that number. The movie’s box office collection on day 1 is Rs 31.3 crore. What a feat! This should be an eye-opener for Bollywood. We are looking forward to seeing what will be the weekend collection of this Marvel movie. We are sure, quite a few records will be shattered over the next two days. And lifetime collections? Let us not even get there.

Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat is not the only one Avengers: Infinity War has managed to beat. But Tiger Shroff’s biggest hit to date, Baaghi 2 has suffered the same fate. Baaghi 2’s opening day collections were Rs 25.10 crore. The movie has even smashed box office records by a movies of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan. More update on that later.

Talking to ScreenRant, director Joe Russo has said, “We’re telling the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not the Marvel Comic Book Universe. Like growing up I’m a huge comic book fan. I still have my entire collection, in my closet. For me, I’m not interested as a director, or as a comic book fan, in any literal interpretation of a book. I know that story. I’ve read it. I’m not going to go to the theatre and be surprised by it, We’re interested in surprising you. Borrowing elements and the mojo from it but in completing this giant mosaic of the story that’s being told in these movies, not in those books, which is why Death [the character] is not in this film.”

Exclusive! Vicky Kaushal confirms he was approached for Padmaavat but does not regret losing out on it

No doubt, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat has turned out to become a masterpiece. I am sure most of us have still not recovered from the magic that we experienced watching Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmaavti, Ranveer Singh as the fierce Allaudin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Padmavati’s husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh. The cast was as perfect as the film. But at one point in time, there were also speculations on how Vicky Kaushal was initially offered Shahid’s role in Padmaavat. It was reported that SLB was really keen on having him on board but for some reason,  things didn’t work out. We finally know why it didn’t work out from the man himself – Vicky Kaushal.

Confirming how he was very much approached for Padmaavat, Vicky recalls, “We were in talks, but then certain things fall in place, certain things don’t fall in place. For me, you need to try and understand, my first film came out in 2015, a small, humble film like Masaan. And if because of that one film, a director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali calls you to his office and tells you that you are a contender for a part in his next, that in itself means a huge deal for me. There I have got the film, I have lived the character, I got everything with that one call. This is not the end of the world. We’ll keep working. He (SLB) will keep making films, I will inshallah keep being a part of films and we will probably cross paths again. So these are all just a part and parcel of the industry that you are in. I absolutely have no regrets. In fact, I feel lucky that I got a call, he even thought of me. He is a director where actors are lined up to just be a part of his films. But out of everyone, the fact he just thought of me in itself is a big deal for me. I feel fortunate that such doors too are opening for me.”

Ask Vicky about the role he was offered and he adds, “It was for the Ratan Singh part(played by Shahid Kapoor). But like I said, this is the case with every next film – there are many actors in the running, then they consider other things to fit the role and finally it just falls into one person’s kitty. That’s how it goes. But I loved Padmaavat.” Hopefully, we’ll get to see Vicky and Sanjay Leela Bhansali collaborate for a film soon. Your thoughts?

Padmaavat box office collection day 29: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film continues its magical run, collects Rs 281.68 crore

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat ended its fourth week at the box office on a great note. Despite having very limited screens, the costume drama remained rock-steady at the ticket window. In fact, the film has performed better than some new Bollywood releases. The magnum opus raked in around Rs 1.15 crore yesterday and now stands with the total business of Rs 281.68 crore. Since Welcome to New York and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety have released today, Padmaavat will have hardly screens to perform. Though we can still expect the film to cross Rs 285 crore mark by the end of its fifth weekend at the box office.

Featuring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, the film is currently the eighth highest grosser of all time after Baahubali 2, Dangal, PK, Tiger Zinda Hai, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Dhoom 3. The film will soon cross Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 (Rs 284.27 crore) to grab the seventh position in the list. The film is produced under the banners of Sanjay Leela Bhansali productions and Viacom 18 and also stars Jim Sarbh, Anupriya Goenka, Aditi Rao Hydari and Raza Murad in pivotal roles. Apart from the domestic market, the film performed exceptionally well at the overseas box office especially in the markets of North America, New Zealand and Australia. The story of Padmaavat revolves around menacing Sultan of Delhi Alauddin Khilji, who wishes to conquer the queen of Chittorgarh Rani Padmavati. The film is based on an epic poem written in 1540 by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi named Padmaavat. Anyway, do you think Padmaavat will enter Rs 300 crore at the ticket window? Padmaavat box office collection day 28 early estimates: Ranveer – Shahid – Deepika’s film crosses Rs 280 crore mark

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat is in no mood to slow down at the box office. Despite new Bollywood and Hollywood releases, the costume drama continues to dominate at the ticket window. The film raked in Rs 1.20 crore yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 280.50 crore. Padmaavat is currently the eighth highest grosser of all time after Baahubali 2, Dangal, PK, Tiger Zinda Hai, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Dhoom 3. It will surpass the lifetime business of Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 (Rs 284 crore) by its fifth weekend to grab the seventh position in the list.

The magnum opus which features Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles has received rave reviews unanimously from the critics and movie buffs especially for star performances, direction and amazing cinematography by Sudeep Chatterjee. Apart from the lead cast, the film also features Jim Sarbh, Anupriya Goenka, Aditi Rao Hydari and Raza Murad in key roles. Since two Bollywood films Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Welcome to New York are arriving tomorrow, Padmaavat will again face a huge screen crunch. Looking at the current scenario, it seems difficult for the film to achieve the Rs 300 crore mark as it has very limited screens to perform. The film is produced under the banners of Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions and Viacom 18 and is made on the whopping budget of Rs 180 crore including promotion and advertising. The makers also spent Rs 20 crore to convert the film into 3D and IMAX format. Anyway, what are your thoughts on the grand success of the movie? Share your thoughts in the comment section below…
