If the Veere Di Wedding girl gang was cast in these buddy films, here’s how the posters would look like – view pics

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhasker’s Veere Di Wedding has worked wonders at the domestic box office. After raking in more than Rs 55 crore over the first week, the film has earned a decent profit and proved that a film with all girls ensemble cast does work in India. In fact, people across India have loved the movie and accepted it with open arms. With such a fantastic scenario, the producers are already planning a sequel to the film. The plot is also interesting and we are sure that it will be an amazing film. However, if Kareena, Sonam, Swara and Shikha were cast in some iconic, all male ensemble cast buddy films, who would play which character? And how would the posters look like? Well, we did the needful and cast the Veere girls on the posters of Masti, Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and here’s the outcome!

# Masti: The adult comedy about three bachelors whose life turns upside down after marriage made everyone ROFL. The trio try having an affair to get back some spice in their life, ends up with them being blackmailed by the same girl. Starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani, the movie got a lot of love from the audience. And we feel that if the roles and characters were reversed and if Kareena plays Vivek’s character, Sonam plays Riteish’s character and Swara plays Aftab’s part, we figure this all female cast Masti would be very interesting to watch. The poster would also look something like this! (ALSO READ – Kareena Kapoor Khan – Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s Veere Di Wedding to have a sequel post the film’s monumental success at the box office?)

Masti

# Dil Chahta Hai: This a coming of age story of three friends and their relationships is one helluva movie. The film not only shows these friends having the time of their life on a road trip to Goa, but also how their equations and relationships keep changing as they grow older. Starring Aamir Khan (Akash), Saif Ali Khan (Sameer) and Akshaye Khanna (Sid), Dil Chahta Hai is a cult film and we guess if Kareena played the non commital Akash, Sonam was in the shoes of the desperate Sameer and Swara played the mature Sid’s part, this rejigged version of Dil Chahta Hai would entertain us even more. A film about three girls on a road trip dealing with their relationships would be fun to watch. Check out the poster of this one right here.

# Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara: This travel film featuring three buddies – Farhan Akhtar (Imran), Hrithik Roshan (Arjun) and Abhay Deol (Kabir) is a total entertainer. After Kabir proposes to his girlfriend, the three buddies go on a trip across Spain and engage in some crazy stuff. From adventure sports to dancing and what not, this film is a cult classic. But if Kareena were to play the serious and workaholic Arjun, Sonam the funny yet emotional Imran and Swara the mature and adventurous Kabir, we are sure the girly version of ZNMD would be really amazing to watch. Sonam On Veere Di Wedding Success: “Couldn’t Have Asked For More”

Actress Sonam Kapoor, who will turn a year older on Saturday, says that box-office numbers of her current film “Veere Di Wedding” has gone beyond expectation.

“I couldn’t have asked for more,” she says as the praise pours in.

“I mean, the numbers have gone beyond all expectations. Right? And it’s very reassuring,” added Sonam.

Not that she is a stranger to scoring as a Female Hero.

“‘Neerja‘ was a turning point in my career. The numbers it did at the box office gave me a lot of confidence and also made a difference to the way female-centric films are perceived by the film trade,” she said.

Comparisons with Alia Bhatt starrer “Raazi“, the other successful heroine-oriented film of the season, are inevitable but Sonam says her “Veere Di Wedding” has a long way to go.

“I haven’t seen ‘Raazi’. But I am only hearing good things about it. It has already done a business of Rs. 100 crores. Our ‘Veere Di Wedding‘ isn’t there yet. But I hope it would be,” she said.

She also hopes to keep up her friendship with her ‘Veeres’ Swara Bhaskar, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shikha Talsania, who played leading roles in the film.

“Swara and I have been friends for five years. Working together in this film has only made us closer. Bebo(Kareena)’s family and my family have known each other for decades. I’ve grown up idolizing Bebo. Now after ‘Veere Di Wedding’ she is a dear friend…Shikha Talsania is someone I came to know while doing this film. I’ve grown fond of her too…So yeah , I do hope to keep connecting with them,” says Sonam.

She admits she is very adept at keeping up with friends even after marriage.

“My life has never been about just movies. I have always given equal priority to my social commitments. Nothing changes after marriage. I will work just as much as before. And my friends will remain in my life. Why are we even discussing this,” she said.

She also refuses to discuss the controversies regarding Swara’s self-sex sequence in “Veere Di Wedding” or the trolls regarding her colourful language.

“I don’t want to dignify the hate-mongers’ quibbling by reacting to it. I’d rather focus on the far bigger number of people who love our film,” she said.

After a break Sonam will return to continue shooting for the Vidhu Vinod Chopra helmed “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga” where she shares screen space for the first time with her father Anil Kapoor.

“What is it like? What do you think it is like? When we are on camera my father is fiercely competitive. When it comes to on-screen enthusiasm I can’t compete with him. I don’t want to,” said Sonam.

Sonam – Kareena’s Veere Di Wedding crushes Alia’s Raazi at the box office; becomes the fifth highest opening week grosser of 2018

We revealed to you how Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania’s Veere Di Wedding has remained rock steady and raked in an impressive amount over the first week at the domestic box office. In fact, with Rs 56.96 crore in its kitty after 7 days, Veere Di Wedding has cruised past the first week collections of Alia Bhatt’s Raazi (Rs 56.59 crore) and Kartik Aryan’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (Rs 45.94 crore) to become the fifth highest first week grosser of 2018 till now.

If you look at the opening week collections of all the Bollywood release of 2018 till now, you will realise that Padmaavat is at the top spot with a first week collection of Rs 166.50 crore (9 day week). Baaghi 2 (Rs 112.85 crore), Raid (Rs 63.05 crore), Pad Man (Rs 62.87 crore), Veere Di Wedding (Rs 56.96 crore), Raazi (Rs 56.59 crore), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (Rs 45.94 crore) and Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (Rs 35.41 crore) follow suit. Clearly, Veere Di Wedding is having a fantastic run at the box office. The fact that it has been able to achieve these feats even though it is an all women film that has been released in limited screens with an A rating, we have to say Veere Di Wedding has performed very well. In fact, even though Rajinikanth’s Kaala and Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom have released in select screens, Veere Di Wedding has stood strong. Looking at the current trends, we expect it to continue raking in the moolah and collect Rs 75 – 100 crore in its lifetime run. Anyway, what did you guys have to say about the movie? Veere Di Wedding box office collection day 7: Kareena – Sonam’s film marches on; collects Rs 56.96 crore over the first week

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania’s Veere Di Wedding has set the cash registers ringing ever since it released on June 1. The movie has been raking in the moolah and on day 7, it marched on and added another Rs 4.06 crore at the domestix box office. With that, the overall tally now stands at Rs 56.96 crore at the end of the first week. In fact, even after Rajinikanth’s Kaala and Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom released in select screens yesterday (June 7), Veere Di Wedding has held its fort. However, it will have to stay steady in the second week to earn an even more significant amount at the box office as week three sees the release of Salman Khan’s Race 3, which will surely take up almost all the screens available in the Hindi belt. Talking about this and the current trends, trade analyst Taran Adarsh mentioned on Twitter, “#VeereDiWedding packs a SOLID TOTAL in Week 1. North circuits were SUPER-STRONG. With two significant releases this week [#Kaala and #JurassicWorld], #VDW will have to maintain the pace in Week 2. #Race3 arrives next week, so it has this week to score.”

Though Rs 56.96 crore is not a huge amount for a Bollywood film to collect over the first week, it is a fantastic number for Veere Di Wedding as it is an all women film that was released with an A rating in limited number of screens. In fact, the film has also become the fifth highest opening week grosser of 2018 till now. So it’s a great time for Veere Di Wedding. Taran Adarsh also mentioned about this feat, when he tweeted, “Top 5 opening day. Top 5 opening weekend. #VeereDiWedding now cruises into Top 5 Week 1 of 2018. Fri Rs 10.70 crore, Sat Rs 12.25 crore, Sun Rs 13.57 crore, Mon Rs 6.04 crore, Tue Rs 5.47 crore, Wed Rs 4.87 crore, Thu Rs 4.06 crore. Total: Rs 56.96 crore. India biz.” (ALSO READ – Kareena Kapoor Khan – Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s Veere Di Wedding to have a sequel post the film’s monumental success at the box office?)

Veere Di Wedding Actor Vishwas Kini AKA Bhandari: “Easier To Approach Big Filmmakers Now”

Actor Vishwas Kini is elated with the success of “Veere Di Wedding“, and says that puts him in a more comfortable position.

Vishwas is seen as a rich Delhi guy in “Veere Di Wedding“, a film which is co-produced by Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi.

“People are loving my character and I am getting a lot of messages appreciating my portrayal as Bhandari,” Vishwas told IANS over the phone from Mumbai.

The movie has drawn a lot of interest especially as it is Kareena Kapoor Khan’s first film since she became a mother, and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s first movie to release since her wedding. For Swara Bhasker, it is a different zone that she is stepping into. Shikha Talsania also makes the right noise in the film, directed by Shashanka Ghosh.

They are cast in a coming-of-age story revolving around the lives of four friends who deal with the trials and tribulations regarding family acceptance, marriage and societal perceptions in the modern-day world. The girls openly talk about their sex lives and hurl abuses.

“A lot of it is hard work paying off. But for me since it is my first film a lot of it has to do with the acceptance of audience. If we count the audience as one, they say yes or no. And for me it was a big yes.”

Will he be careful while picking his next project?

“I am always willing to take risks. Instead of being more careful, it is convenient now. There are a lot of big filmmakers, whom I can approach. It is now easier to get to them than before and talk to them.

“They have seen my work. I feel I am in a more comfortable place than before to choose my next part.”

And Vishwas is in no mood to slow down.

“I have been on a break for the last eight years. I am not thinking of a break right now,” he said, adding that he is going through some scripts.

“I will make an announcement soon,” he said.

Kareena Kapoor Khan – Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s Veere Di Wedding to have a sequel post the film’s monumental success at the box office?

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania’s Veere Di Wedding has been a massive hit at the box office. The film, made on a limited budget, has raked in more than Rs 55 crore at the box office in just a week. Considering that it is an all women film that was released with an A rating in limited number of screens, the movie has done phenomenally well. And with an estimated lifetime business of Rs 75 – 100 crore, Veere Di Wedding will make a huge profit. With the film’s monumental success at the box office, looks like the producers – Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor are already planning a sequel. And as always we have all the details for you!

At a recent dinner party, looks like Ekta and Rhea chatted away about Veere Di Wedding‘s sequel and they were quite serious about it. As a production insider told Mid-day, “Ekta and Rhea may come from different schools of cinema, but have always aimed to make films that are distinctive, and become a talking point. With the success of Veere Di Wedding, several people from the industry have been encouraging them to work on a sequel since the film’s concept and characters received so much love from the audience. At the dinner, the two had a discussion about the story lending itself to a franchise.” (ALSO READ – Swara Bhasker’s take on the self-gratification sequence in Veere Di Wedding makes a lot of sense)

Apparently, they have even thought of the plot. While Veere Di Wedding focused on how their friendship and relationships went through ups and downs while Kareena‘s character – Kalindi gets set for marriage, the sequel will reportedly depict the journey of the four girls a few years after the marriage. As the insider added to the tabloid, “The story will require at least a year’s work. Once that has been finalised, they will look at getting bulk dates from the four actors. Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor are keen to start working on the second part.” (ALSO READ – Curious about Bhandari from Veere Di Wedding? The film’s spokesperson also confirmed this news saying, “With the movie faring well, a sequel is being discussed. Swara Bhasker Clarifies About The Masturbation Controversy In Veere Di Wedding!

Actress Swara Bhasker, who was trolled over a masturbation scene in her latest release “Veere Di Wedding“, says showing a girl gratifying herself in a film in a non judgemental way is empowering.

Swara, who plays Sakshi in the film, was asked by a user on Twitter about “how masturbating related to empowerment, and that empowerment does not mean that one should masturbate in public. It’s private”.

The 30-year-old actress said: “Sakshi was in her ‘private’ bedroom, not public. Masturbation is about owning ur body, sexuality. Empowering.

“In a culture that largely silences or ignores or shames female sexuality showing a girl gratifying herself in a film in a non judgemental way is empowering.”

Swara has been heavily trolled for the scene in the film directed by Shashanka Ghosh. It also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Shikha Talsania.
