Avengers: Infinity War has garnered outstanding reviews across the globe. Our critic Rajat Tripathi gave the film four and a half stars said, “This movie is a must-watch. Avengers: Infinity War gets silly when it tries to pack humour at places where you feel like crying your heart out. It gets unimaginably passionate when it brings our mighty heroes and the vicious villain face-to-face. And goes without saying that it crushes your heart by the time it ends. As I was saying in the opening…Avengers: Infinity War is passionate, silly, and heartbreaking – just like first love!” Anyway, are you guys planning to watch the movie this weekend? Salman Khan: “Can’t Afford Luxury Of Being Depressed”

Superstar Salman Khan, who is busy shooting for his upcoming film Race 3, says he cant afford the luxury of being depressed or emotional.

Apart from giving a number of blockbusters, Salman is also known for launching new faces in the film industry and doing charity work through his ‘Being Human Foundation’.

What makes him so selfless and keeps him going?

Can’t afford luxury of being depressed: Salman Khan

“When I was 15-16 (years old), I started partying and stuff like that because that’s the age when everyone parties. When I was in college, I used to assist in films and then I started working as a model too,” Salman said at the TiE Global Summit (TGS) 2018 here on Thursday.

Going down memory lane, he said: “One day, Mr. Kailash Surendranath (advertising filmmaker) made me face the camera for the first time. It was for his Campa Cola advertisement, so, he used to take me out for parties.”

“One day, he kept his arm around me and said ‘Salman, I don’t think you should waste your time by spending your father’s money’. Though he said that jokingly, I didn’t take that as a joke. Straight after that, I started working and till today, I don’t take holidays.”

If he is not doing films or not feeling well then also he keeps himself busy.

“I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me,” he said.

The Tiger Zinda Hai star said an actor’s life does not have any “sub-titles” to show what he is going through at any stage of his life.

“My profession is such that I have to look good, dress up well, do stylised action sequences and romance. My articles come on affairs, me working with beautiful heroines and then suddenly a court date comes up… people see me on ‘Bigg Boss’ in which I am laughing and joking,” said the reality show’s host.

“So, people think that he doesn’t give a damn about things. That is the most difficult part about our journey as actors. No matter what you are going through at your home or your personal life, you can’t have sub-titles there. You have to be that character, no matter what you are going through, you have to forget that and you have to focus on your craft,” he added.

Did Arijit Singh lose out on yet another song because of Salman Khan?

It’s not that Arijit Singh is any less talented. He’s in fact one of the most gifted singers we have in our industry right now. Yet, he is believed to have been unreasonably replaced by Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for a song from Sonakshi Sinha’s Welcome To New York, a film which also stars Salman Khan in a cameo. Now although it could be a possibility that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s voice genuinely sounded better than Arjit for this certain song but considering Arjit’s public fallout with Salman during Sultan in 2016, speculations are rife that what if Salman asked the makers to drop Arijit from the film?

For those of you who have forgotten the infamous Salman-Arijit fight, it began way back in 2013 when Arijit jokingly insulted Salman at an awards show saying, “Kya sir sula diya aapne?” Obviously it looked more like a fun banter between the two but Salman was not a tad pleased about Arijit’s insulting behavior and decided to ban him from his films, ever since. Cut to 2016, Arijit finally got an opportunity to sing for Salman’s film – a song in Sultan but much to his dismay, Salman picked Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s version of the song over Arijit’s in the nth minute, leaving the latter with no ray of hope.

Arijit had even issued a public apology on Facebook begging Salman to retain his song in the film. He wrote, “No problem I apologize here in front of everyone but please it is a request please do not remove the song that I sang for you in Sultan. You want anyone else to sing this song, absolutely fine but keep a version at least. I have sung enough songs sir. But I want to retire with at least one song of you keeping in my library. Please do not take away this feeling.” However, the actor strictly chose to ignore all his requests.

Now it’s left to see how will Arijit mend ways with Salman, now that he’s lost out on yet another song. Or for that matter, word is that Arijit was even considered to sing Dil Diyan Gallan in Salman’s Tiger Zinda Hai but only until Atif Aslam stepped into his shoes and made it his own. Keep watching this space for more updates on this hot story.

Tiger Zinda Hai box office collection day 45: Salman Khan’s film rakes in Rs 338.79 crore

Despite Padmaavat’s dominance, Tiger Zinda Hai continued to rake in moolah at the domestic market. The espionage thriller has entered in its seventh week and still managing to attract the audience in the theatre, which is a great achievement indeed. The film raked in Rs 27 lakhs yesterday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 338.79 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collections on his Twitter account, “#TigerZindaHai [Week 7] Fri 15 lakhs, Sat 18 lakhs, Sun 27 lakhs. Total: ₹ 338.79 cr. India biz. BLOCKBUSTER. #TZH”

Tiger Zinda Hai has ruled the box office for over a month before Padmaavat arrived. Since there are very limited screens for the film, we are expecting it to end its theatrical run by next week during PadMan. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film also stars Angad Bedi, Paresh Rawal, Sajjad Delafrooz, Kumud Mishra and Anupriya Goenka in key roles. Expressing his happiness about the film’s stupendous success, Salman Khan said in a statement: “I hope the industry has many more bigger successes this year. It is important that we see more hits, more blockbusters. It will expand our industry, provide more jobs for people and entertain audiences much more. I’m happy with the business that Tiger Zinda Hai has been doing at the box office.”Records are never ever-lasting. Records are meant to be broken and it’s good for new records to happen more frequently. It is healthy and extremely important.” (Also Read: Aamir Khan challenges Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan to pose with a sanitary pad; view pic)

Lead actress also shared his joy about film’s tremendous box office run and said, “‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ has given all of us so many amazing memories to cherish. From it being Salman’s biggest hit, Ali’s biggest film, to it also becoming my highest ever grosser – we are extremely happy as a team that the film has done so well.” The high-on-action entertainer is the third Salman movie to surpass the Rs 300 crore mark after “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” and “Sultan”. Both “Sultan” and “Tiger Zinda Hai” helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar and are produced by Yash Raj Films

Not only has Salman taken the box office by storm with a whopping 338 crores with Tiger Zinda Hai, the Bollywood actor has also emerged as the most watched person on Television. Box office roundup January: Padmaavat and Tiger Zinda Hai give a fantastic start to 2018

January 2018 will be forever remembered as the most eventful month. Why? After going to and fro, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s labour for love Padmaavat released. It was also the month where Aiyaary was finding it difficult to stay put at one place. It got pushed around so much that even now we have doubts if the film will actually release on February 9. Pad Man was almost getting released on January 25 and then suddenly it didn’t. Akshay Kumar generously gave away the spot to Bhansali’s Padmaavat because he felt this film needed the Republic Day weekend more than his movie. So the month has been pretty interesting that way. But that’s not the only thing that we noticed in January. Here’s our review of the month…

Padmaavat it is! After months of hardwork, protests, controversies, Bhansali’s ambitious period epic on a Rajput queen’s jauhar finally got screened at the theatres and the impact can be felt even now. Since the day it released, it has been creating records. We have already shared 21 records with you and we are pretty sure it has added a few more in the kitty already. It will only go bigger in the coming days as there is hardly competition in the coming days. As of now, it has earned Rs 148 crore. Padmaavat’s release and success will make Bhansali finally heave a sigh of relief because there was a point when people were speculating the film might just never release ever.

Now coming to Tiger Zinda Hai, Salman Khan’s film doesn’t really care who is contesting with it at the box office. Despite a Christmas 2017 release, the film is still running successfully at many theatres. It crossed the Rs 300 crore mark already and is now eyeing to beat P.K.’s total soon. That’s the reason nobody clashes with Salman at the box office. His movie will run no matter what… but yes, provided it makes everyone happy (Tubelight is still fresh in our memories).

We need to mention 1921 here too. Before Padmaavat, many lacklustre movies released and only Vikram Bhatt’s horror fest managed to stay put. The genre still finds patronage which is a lesson for many that there is an audience for the content. It is the only hit apart from Padmaavat among the January releases. As of now the film has made Rs 15.51 crore.

We have to mention Secret Superstar too. After Dangal, China just loves anything even has a hint of Aamir Khan in it. The film is enroute to making Rs 500 crore in the country alone. It had only earned Rs 63.40 crore in India! (Also read: Just when Padmaavat protests calmed down, Manju Warrier’s Aami gets dragged to court for twisting facts)

Well, there are quite a few but the one that might hurt the most is Kaalakaandi. Saif Ali Khan was looking to redeem himself after Chef last year with film but it was too trippy for anyone’s liking. Mukkabaaz garnered praise but not box office numbers. Rest can be best forgotten!

January trends

Amusingly, there isn’t a trend in particular to notice in terms of box office. What we did learn this month is how despite protest, a film which has been well-made, will manage to find its audience and flourish. The protests against Padmaavat had turned violent but the film marched ahead. It is not screened at key states and yet it has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in 4 days. The ban on the film has been lifted in Patna and we are hoping more states will open up to the film in the coming days for it to earn some more.

Star performers

Ranveer Singh, Ranveer Singh and Ranveer Singh! Eversince people have watched Padmaavat, they just can’t get over the fact that this actor is so evil! We are of course talking about his character of Alauddin Khilji. The kind of villainy he has instilled in the role is simply mindblowing. It is so difficult to convince yourself that it’s Ranveer in the film because he is so affable in nature. And here he is playing this perfect devil!

Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone also deserve mention here because without them, Ranveer’s khilji wouldn’t stand out.

Up and coming

February has two biggies in the name of Pad Man and Aiyaary which everyone is banking on. Then there’s Rani Mukerji’s comeback film Hichki, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety,  Dil Junglee and others. We will brace up for a surprise this month. What about you?
