Avengers: Infinity War box office collection day 3: The superhero flick nears the Rs 100 crore mark

Marvel’s latest superhero venture Avengers: Infinity War has set a huge benchmark for a Hollywood film in the Indian market. After collecting over Rs 30 crore on Friday and Saturday, the film showed a good jump on Sunday and raked in Rs 32.50 crore yesterday. It now stands with the grand total of Rs 94.30 crore at the box office. With this business, it has become the second highest opening weekend grosser of the year after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat.

Despite having just 2000 screens in the domestic circuit, the film has shattered many box office records of the Bollywood biggies. Made on the estimated budget of around $ 350 million, it is shot in England, Scotland, USA and Georgia. Produced by Kevin Feige, the screenplay of the film is written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Avengers: Infinity War, which is the 19th Marvel Studios’ movie, brings together 22 superheroes like Iron Man, Thor and The Hulk against one supervillain Thanos. Considering this, Avengers: Infinity War has performed exceptionally well.

In fact, Avengers: Infinity War beat Jurassic World ($316.69 million) in the overseas market to become the second highest opening weekend grosser at the foreign box office. Well, the movie has not only beaten the opening day record for the previous years but this year, too, there was no worthy contendor against it. The movie has beaten big-budget productions like Padmaavat and highly anticipated ones like Baaghi 2. Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat was at Rs 24 crore on day 1. And Tiger Shroff starrer Baaghi 2 was at Rs 25.10 crore at the end of first Friday.

The movie beat many Salman Khan and Aamir Khan movies to become the 10th highest opening in Bollywood of all time. The position was previously held by Ajay Devgn and Parineeti Chopra’s Golmaal Again with Rs 30.14 crore. Right behind it were movies like Aamir Khan’s Dangal – Rs. 29.78 crore, PK – Rs. 26.63 crore and Salman Khan’s Kick – Rs 27.25 crore, Bajrangi Bhaijaan – Rs 26.40 crore. Avengers Infinity War zoomed past all of these to secure 1oth position.

The record was previously held by The Jungle Book with a 3-day total of Rs 40.47 crore. On the other hand, the MCU entry has managed to surpass these numbers with an exceptional difference. In just two days, the movie has managed to get Rs 61.8 crore in India.

After beating the opening records in 2018, AIW has managed to race ahead in terms of second-day box office collections as well by collecting Rs 61.8 crore (Rs 30.3 crore on Friday and Rs 31.5 crore on Saturday). Padmaavat garnered Rs 56 crore on day 2 in India. Baaghi 2 minted Rs 45.50 crore in two days.
